A note from our owner, Bhavesh Gumnani:
As the impact of COVID-19 grows, I wanted you to hear directly from me about the mitigation efforts that Strikey Posey has enacted to reduce the risk of infection to our team members, our clients and their guests. My focus remains on supporting our Strikey Posey Photobooth team, while at the same time doing my part to preserve the health, safety, and well-being of all those with whom we come in contact.
I think it is extremely safe to assume that everyone has been significantly impacted by COVID-19 in one way or another. The entire photo booth industry relies on a healthy events industry, and the events industry relies on the ability for us to be able to come together as a community and celebrate special days. As we look toward the future and anticipate what it holds for us, we at Strikey Posey are working every day to ensure our level of customer service our clients are accustomed to is not diminished.
We continue to closely monitor and assess this evolving situation, and any changes in company policies and procedures regarding COVID-19 precautions will be based on scientific studies and official reports, and any changes we make will be updated here. I can’t emphasize just how much I am itching to get back to celebrating with you all, and I am making sure that we are able to get to that point as safely as possible by expanding and refining our policies. If you have any personal questions requirements or preferences, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will do our best to accommodate within reason.
Masks // In addition to our usual attire, our staff will be required to wear masks, and those with long hair will be required to wear their hair tied or pinned up to prevent touching their face and hair throughout the event.
No-touch Photo Booth activations // For the foreseeable future, our attendants will be the only ones allowed to touch the photo booth screen during attended events. Guests will be required to maintain social distance from the photo booth and attendant for the duration of the rental period.
Sanitized Selfie Stations // Our Selfie Station rentals will operate as usual, but our staff will sanitize everything before the event begins and at the end of the rental.
Stanchions at events // Maintaining a distance is important, so in an effort to protect our staff, our clients and their guests, we’ve invested in stanchions that will be set up at each even to help with crowd control, and keeping guests from touching the photo booth itself.
Limited props // We know this is a significant bummer, but there is no feasible way to properly sanitize every prop between guests, so we will be having limited props for the foreseeable future.
A different way to social share // Instead of texting and emailing right from the Photo Booths, a link and corresponding QR code will be displayed near the photo booth at the event showing guests where they can go on their phone’s browser to access all of the evenings’ photos. Provided there is adequate internet service available at the venue, photos will sync to the folder automatically as they are taken. This eliminates the need to touch any tablet surface, and still allows guests to get digital copies of their photos.
Sanitizing all equipment before and after events // All our equipment will be sanitized before and after events, and all our boxes and equipment will be sanitized inside our storage facility as well.
OPTIONAL – Next day prints // For our clients who have prints as part of their package, and would like to eliminate an additional point of contact at their event, we are providing the option for next day prints. While our attendants are out at events, I will be printing the photos at my office. I will package them up, and depending on your preferred delivery location, we can either hand-deliver the following day or mail them via standard shipping. The prints can be placed in the envelopes you send out with thank you cards so guests get their prints! Our standard rule of one print per person per session will apply, so everyone will get a print of each session they were in.
What we are requesting from our clients:
Masks // Please encourage your guests to wear masks. This has been proven by the CDC to protect other people from getting sick if you are sick, even when asymptomatic. This is a really wonderful way to respect your hardworking vendors whose lives depend on being able to work events every weekend.
Set up location // If it is possible to put us away from the dance floor and other major foot traffic spots, that is ideal.
Following the Government’s minimum standard health protocols // We know rules are no fun, but they’re here to protect us all. Please encourage your guests, planner, vendors and venue to follow the guidelines regarding large events.
Well, it’s 2019 and at Strikey Posey, we’re stoked to see what this year brings. We can’t say what the Billboard #1 song will be or whether cargo pants will actually be acceptable fashion again…But we can share what the top trends for photo booths will be this year. Because it’s kinda what we do (and we love what we do).
2019 is going to be a year of experiences. People don’t want to just step in front of a camera and say “cheese” anymore. It’s about so much more. It’s about capturing unbelievable moments, embracing minimalism and showing off your personality.
We at Strikey Posey can’t wait to help create and capture these experiences for you in 2019, so without further ado, here are the Top 5 Photo Booth Trends of 2019!
5) Video and GIF booths are in.
Like, really in. Like the 90s and my favorite velvet dress from elementary school are back in.
Both GIF and video booths are great for leaving a personalized message for the bride and groom, letting people know how much you’re loving the party, or capturing those moments of movement where you’re like, “Oh, THAT’S my best side!” (And if you’re like me, that totally depends on the day.)
4) Props – choose carefully…
Let’s talk about props for a minute. If you’ve ever been in a photo booth, you’ve probably held up a handlebar mustache on a stick or put on those huge clown glasses. They’re fun, quirky and definitely lighten up the mood.
But in 2019, minimalist props will be key. You’ll see a decrease in funny glasses and an increase in simple, themed props. Basically, if it was created exclusively for your party, definitely use that prop. But if you find yourself picking up glasses and a mustache on a stick and a funny hat…maybe it’s time to just put them all back and grab a drink and a friend to be in front of the camera with you.
Props can be a great addition, but make sure, when you look back on the photo, you’re remembering the experience of the event as a whole. And let me tell you, you’ll want to remember who you spent the event with and not what you look like with fake lips.
3) Set Designs: it’s all about the experience!
With props being much more streamlined and minimalist, we’ll be seeing the sets of photo booths becoming increasingly more unique!
And we’re not talking just fun backdrops (even though that’s still totally a thing). We’re talking full-on sets where the photo experience and the props are one. These work great with GIF experiences and are perfect for really capturing the vibe of your event.
Say the words “photo booth” and you’ll almost surely draw up a feeling of nostalgia. Maybe it’s you and your middle school sweetheart pushing aside curtains, squishing into a tiny booth at the mall, grabbing that singular strip, and later sticking it to your mirror to swoon over. Maybe its you a friend at the movie theater arcade cramming into the enclosed box and spending less time taking photos and more time arguing over who has to go home with the one where you both aren’t ready for the flash. Maybe it’s at a quirky college bar where you spend the last five dollars in your wallet to attempt to fit as many faces as possible into a frame that’s built for two. Yes, the black box has reigned over your candid memories for some time now.
Professional Photo Quality
Some assume that photo quality is directly related to the quality of the camera, but that is only partly correct. From a quality perspective, the true strength of an open air photo booth is actually lighting. Open air photo booths mimic a professional lighting set up with the ability to adjust intensity based on environment and angle downward, rather than straight on, at the face. The result is a smooth, magazine style look that stands far and above the alternatives.
The More The Merrier
Modern events like a wedding or corporate party center around the idea of getting everyone involved so, the idea of sending two or at most three people to close themselves off in a tiny space doesn’t quite align. Photos taken in open air photo booths can fit more than a dozen people at a time which allows for better group shots and more overall involvement from your crowd. Because there’s not a curtain, spectators see what’s going on and get inspired to jump in and try it for themselves!
Props are one of the most adored parts of using a photo booth. Since guests stand rather than sit in an open air photo booth, there is tons of opportunity to fill the space with everything from wearing masks, to costumes, to bringing in full-size cardboard cut-outs. The list really does go on forever and it is highly encouraged to put your own mark on the event with your own unique props.
With an open air photo booth, you can create a custom backdrop which your guests will stand in front of. A few pro-tips are as follows. For a wedding or party, find a textured shower curtain that matches your event’s theme. For a corporate or branded event, get a step-and-repeat printed on a fabric, rather than vinyl, for no reflection.
At an event, an on-site attendant can be one of your greatest assets to keep everything running smoothly. This person will do everything from quickly fixing tech issues, to keeping the line organized, to making sure guests are behaving an being reminded their photos are going on the internet. Most open air photo booth companies include an attendant with their rental packages.
Compact Set Up
Open-air photo booths are often packed down into one or two cases and require only a single attendant to assemble. As a client, this means the process of set up and break down is minimally interruptive to your event. Additionally, open air photo booths are flexible for the space allotted and distance to backdrop, camera zoom, and booth height are all aspects that can often be adjusted.
You weren’t looking. You blinked. Someone tried to jump in at the last second and ruined your picture. We know it happens. That’s why open air photo booths are built for unlimited do-overs. Since everything is digital rather than film, feel no guilt in taking as many photos as you want!
Visual content makes up 93% of all human communication, so it makes sense that a photo booth would resonate well with large crowds. Whether it’s a trade show, conference, or product launch party – an open air photo booth can help event marketers with lead generation, relationship building, and brand awareness.
When event planning at a large scale, details are meticulously and rigorously planned out months in advance, but the detail event marketers often neglect is “What will the guests DO?” Trade show attendees wander for 8.3 hours a day on average and banking on music to keep a crowd entertained simply isn’t going to cut it anymore. An open air photo booth not only attracts guests, but also acts as the perfect icebreaker to engage them. Additionally, photo booths designed for large scale event marketing support lead generation by including the option to require e-mail addresses before or after each use.
Build Brand Community with Social Engagement
Taking the photo only has to be the beginning. Event marketers can increase social engagement by allowing guests to instantly share their photos via a variety of channels. A best practice is to set your photo booth social sharing to include pre-set text, such as the event or brand hashtag, to better track the ROI of your photo booth campaign post-event. Photos posted to Facebook generate 55% more likes than the average post, so there is large opportunity for a ripple effect in awareness for your online community with photo booth social sharing.
Generate Print Collateral On-Site
It wouldn’t be a photo booth if you didn’t get at print out! Luckily, we’ve evolved from the black-and-white strip days of yore and prints can do much more than hang on your fridge. Print templates are now made to be totally customizable and technology allows for delivery in under 20 seconds. That saves your attendees from awkwardly waiting around, or worse – walking away without their branded print. In addition to the event or company logo, event marketers can include a link that will direct guests to a landing page for measurable event-based lead generation.
